Austin: A Girls’s Getaway

Whether it’s a staycation or off to an exotic location, girls just want to have fun! The daily pressures of life some-times need to be melted away with a glass of wine on a beach or hiking in Hawaii with great friends. Today we travel to a not so distant place: Austin, Texas! The music scene here is incredible and there really is much to see and do with the girls.

Everyone knows that the Austin City Limits is a huge music fest that’s absolutely fabulous. The event happens in October but it’s never too early to start planning. It’s a pretty awesome music festival that you all can brag about attending. Don’t forget to take plenty of pictures of the entire event to prove to the kiddos in the future that you were once really cool!

If you and the girls want something different than hearing the great music Austin definitely has it. Perhaps you all just want to relax and enjoy the amazing food. If that’s the case you need to go on one of the food tours. From food trucks to touring East Austin on bikes to all the wonderful eats. Even if you decide not to go on one of the food tours, create your own little foodie trail while you stay. You can always ask locals during your stay for suggestions or the front desk at your hotel.

After all that great food and city touring, have a pampering session with the girls at the Viva Day Spa. The Austin Chronicle named it one of the best spas in the city in 2011 and 2012. There you and the other ladies can indulge in massages, facials, or even body wraps.

If you’re wondering where you’ll stay at during your girl getaway look no further than the Hotel San Jose. This hotel was the beginning of Liz Lambert’s journey into the hotel business after being an attorney in both Manhattan and her native Texas. There is even a documentary about her journey through the renovations for those who want to see it before they get there.

At the end of your stay, you’ll have reconnected with other women in your circle and created a unique experience. These little escapades are more than just mini-vacations: they are life moments that bring you closer to your friends, reveal things about yourself, and offer an excellent outlet to vent and handle stress better. Get the girls ready and head out to Austin!
